Major midget, major bantam Kings squads both finish 2-2 at IceJam

Both versions of the Western Kings won two and lost two at the East Coast IceJam hockey tournament in Halifax, N.S. over the weekend.

Major bantam

The major bantam Kings wrapped up their tournament on Saturday with a 3-1 loss to the Dartmouth Whalers.

Jacob Christie, Patrick McInnis and Ben Allison struck for the Whalers, who would end up losing the championship game to Fredericton.

Jacob Oake supplied the lone Kings goal.

In action from Friday, the Kings trounced the Kings Mutual Valley Wildcats from Nova Scotia 7-3 to finish the round-robin portion of the schedule.

Mark Hillier (2), Cameron Costello, Skylar Coates, Mark Randell, Riley Simms and Jesse Hickey did the damage offensively for the victors.

Owen Stockdale, Blake Deacon and Cameron Whynot responded for the Wildcats.

Major midget

The Dennis GM Western Kings of the major midget circuit concluded their tournament with a 4-1 loss to the Moncton Flyers.

Cole Waugh (2), Brennan Laverty and Cole Stewart scored in the win.

Lucas Wiseman was the lone marksman for the Kings.

On Friday, the Kings edged the Miramichi Rivermen 3-2, with Dawson Drake netting all three goals for Western.

Simon Theriault and David Basque scored for the losing side.

Earlier Friday, the Kings were crowned 6-2 by the Valley Wildcats.

Zachary Forsythe (3), Giffin Abbott, Isaac Chapman and Dawson Wood filled the net for the Wildcats in the win.

George Young and Jonathan Anderson scored for the Kings.
