Lakers light up Saints as West Coast High School Hockey League playoffs begin

The Elwood Regional High Lakers kicked off the West Coast High School Hockey League playoffs with a bang on Monday evening.

Noah Burton scored twice for the home team in a 7-1 triumph over the St. James Regional High Saints in Game 1 of a best-of-five semifinal series at the Hodder Memorial Recreation Complex.

Jacob Bennett, Michael Maher, Josh Shears, Drew Langdon and Lucas Reid also struck in the win. Luc Strickland was the lone marksman for the Lakers. Kirklin Young earned the goaltending decision over Brady Aucoin.

Game 2 goes Thursday at the Bruce II Sports Centre in Port aux Basques.
