Maher clinches Game 2 victory for Lakers in shootout

For the second straight night, it took a little longer than scheduled, but again, the Elwood Regional High Lakers made good use of the extra time.

Just over the opposition blue line, Sam Watkins of the Stephenville High Spartans gets ready to make a move with the puck.

Michael Maher scored the clincher in the shootout to give the Lakers a 2-1 win against the Stephenville High Spartans in Game 2 of the West Coast High School Hockey League best-of-five final at the Stephenville Dome on Tuesday evening.

 

Brett Urquhart picked up the lone marker for the Lakers in regulation time.

Brady Marche responded for the Spartans.

Jordon Best recorded the win between the pipes over Jordi Green.

Game 3 is slated for 6 p.m. Monday night at the Hodder Memorial Recreation Complex in Deer Lake.
