This is after the team downed the Corner Brook High Titans in Game 5 of their best-of-5 semifinal series 4-1 at the Stephenville Dome Tuesday evening.
After a scoreless first period, Stephenville opened the scoring with Ryan Perrier beat Titans netminder Danny Walsh to give the Spartans the lead. Brady March picked up the helper.
Stephenville weren’t done scoring in the second frame as Andrew Milley gave his club a two-goal advantage later in the frame. George Young and Dawson Drake had the assists on the goal.
In the third, the Spartans went up three goals when Perrier got his second of the night. March and Butt had the assists.
Corner Brook pulled within two when Kyle George hit the back of Stephenville’s net — assists to Matthew Bonnell and Kyle Brown — but that was as close as they got.
Just before the end of regulation, Dawson Drake picked up an empty net marker to push the lead back to three goals.
The win gives the Spartans a 3-2 series win and a berth in the finals where they will meet the Elwood High Lakers of Deer Lake.
Elwood swept Port aux Basques’ St. James Regional High in the other semifinal series.
