This wasn’t one of those times.
The West Side Monarchs completed the sweep of the best-of-seven championship series on Sunday afternoon at Jubilee Field, topping the Hawks 5-1 to claim the trophy.
Brad Brewer’s fingerprints were all over the win, as he drove in four runs and scored two himself in a 2-for-2 outing at the plate. Steven Sheppard chipped in with two runs and an RBI while going 1-for-2.
Darren Colbourne was 2-for-3 in the loss, scoring the losing side’s lone run. Ryan Price and Fred Cutler both went 1-for-3.
Matt Colbourne went the full seven innings on the mound, giving up the one run on eight hits, with six strikeouts and two walks.
Frank Humber was tagged for five runs on as many hits in the losing effort. He recorded six strikeouts and a walk in his six innings of work.
