CORNER BROOK Most Valuable Player Morgan Durnford drained 15 points and Mark Randell threw in 10 to lead C. C. Loughlin to a 57-32 victory over J. J. Curling in the gold-medal showdown for Grade 6 boys basketball bragging rights in the west.
Daniel O’Brien had 12 points for the J. J. Curling representatives in Saturday’s final of the 2014 West Coast Provincial Grade 6 Boys Basketball Tournament held at C. C. Loughlin School gymnasium.

C. C. Loughlin 37, Humber Elementary 33
Milton Andrews had a 14-point performance to help the tournament champions to victory in the tournament opener at the C. C. Loughlin gymnasium.
Lucas Vincent threw in 11 points to the winning score.
Lucas Park picked up eight points in the loss, while Noah Lacour-Thistle and Braden Lockyer both poured in six points.
J. J. Curling 71, St. Gerard’s 51
Daniel O’Brien put up 27 points for the victors, while Logan McRae picked up 18.
Jhoni Brak’s 26-point performance paved the way for St. Gerard’s, while Matthew Burden contributed 12 points to the scoresheet in a losing cause.
Xavier of Deer Lake 42, Sacred Heart 14
Bradin Burden and Noah Gillingham had eight points apiece for the Deer Lake entry.
Josh Penney was the top shooter for Sacred Heart with eight points, while Tyson Pawley threw in four.
St. Gerard’s 46, Sacred Heart 14
Matt Burden and Jay Miller had 10 points apiece for the winners.
Josh Penney held the hot hand for the Sacred Heart entry with eight points, while benchmate Cody Cochrane threw in six.
J. J. Curling 58, Xavier of Deer Lake 20
Daniel O’Brien was the big offensive weapon for the winners with a 21-point game, while Ethon Pickett had a strong outing with 19 points.
Jacob Oake (12) and Christian Brake (4) replied for the Deer Lake entry.
C. C. Loughlin 81, Pasaden Elementary 36

Ethan Gogal (13) and Nathan Carter (8) were the top shooters for the Pasadena representatives.

Daniel O’Brien single handledly defeated the Sacred Heart contingent with 21 points, while Ehton Pickett added nine to the mix in another blowout victory.
Josh Penney had eight points to lead all scorers for Sacred Heart.

Jacob Evoy and Lucas Park had 10 points apiece for the winners.
Jacob Garcin (7) and Nathan Garcin (6) were the top shooters for the Pasadena representatives.
