East coast teams feel wrath of Corner Brook Storm on the hardwood

Jhoni Brake was expected to be a game-changer for the Storm. He didn’t let anybody down.

Brake won most valuable player honours for the Corner Brook Intermediate Storm at the East Coast Provincial Grade 9 Boys A Basketball Championship over the weekend.
Brake, who averaged 16.6 points per game in the tournament, drained 19 points to lead the Storm to a 72-64 victory over the Brother Rice Celtics in the championship final.
Jacob Evoy supported the win with a 12-point performance, while benchmate Nathan Brake threw in 11 points.
Brake had 10 points and Logan Macrae had a dozen points to lead the Storm to a 48-47 win over MacDonald Drive Junior High of St. John’s in one of two semifinal showdowns.
The Storm posted three-straight wins in round-robin play — 59-29 over the Exploits Valley Intermediate Eagles, a 71-52 triumph over St. Peter’s Junior High and 58-47 over Leary’s Brook Junior High — for a perfect weekend from start to finish on the hardwood.
