Whelan’s Gate’s Coolene Brake scored nearly as many runs herself as the Rapid Power Sports Bees did on Wednesday evening.

Brake crossed the plate four times in a 4-for-5 outing at the dish as the Gators downed the Bees 18-5 in Corner Brook Molson Ladies Fastpitch Softball League play at Ambrose O’Reilly Memorial Field. She also contributed an RBI.

Katie Evans, Mary Park and Angela Martyn all went 2-for-3 in the win. Evans accumulated four RBIs and scored two runs, Park swatted in three runs and scored another, and Martyn picked up an RBI and a run scored.

Kayla Brake did all she could in defeat, going 3-for-3 with two runs and an RBI. Jennifer Hartley also scored twice in a 2-for-3 effort.

Coolene Brake earned the pitching win over Nicole Wells.

Brake scattered eight hits over five innings, with three walks and no strikeouts.

Wells walked 14 and allowed 16 hits, with three strikeouts in her five innings.
