Thibault, a native of Quebec, wore the Maple Leaf for Canada’s long-track team at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid and the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo.

He is a world-class sporting expert, and co-author and implementer of Own the Podium Canada (Vancouver Olympics 2010) and Own the Podium (Socchi Olympics 2014).

The Humber Valley Speed Skating Club will seek experienced skaters (including hockey or figure skaters) aged 11-16 years who are interested in embracing an opportunity to train with Thibault and work toward a spot on the Newfoundland and Labrador team for the 2019 Canada Winter Games.

Skaters will get a chance to meet Thibault at an information session scheduled for Sunday from 6-7 p.m. at the Corner Brook Civic Centre. For more information, contact Sharon Karn at 640-1050 or email [email protected].
