Patterson spread the ball around, connecting with Steve Perry, Steve Huxter and Glen Aucoin for his three touchdown strikes at Wellington Street Sports Complex.
He wasn’t perfect, however, as he was picked off by the Falcons once.
The defence for the Mariners was also a difference-maker, as Robert Wheeler collecting a pair of interceptions, while Aucoin put up two sacks. Perry and Huxter also intercepted Falcons quarterback Josh Skinner.
Perry also managed a one-point conversion.
For the Falcons, Skinner had a rough day with a 1:4 touchdown-interception ratio.
On the plus side, Miguel Jones was a defensive force with four sacks, while also catching Skinner’s lone touchdown throw. Ryley Nadon had the interception of Patterson.
In the day’s other game, the Veitch Wellness Centre Golden Gophers outgunned the Winmar Raiders 20-8.
Steve Hynes threw touchdown passes to Michael Hynes and Fred Prosper in the victory, while Michael Tavenor ran in the other score.
Daniel Smith was successful on a two-point conversion.
Tavenor collected a pair of picks defensively, with Smith and Lawrence Cave each grabbing one errant pass from Raiders quarterback Matt Roche.
Roche threw one touchdown to Steve Croft in the loss, while Pat Fewer had a one-point conversion and Chris Bulger kicked a rouge.
Defensively, Steve Vardy chased down the quarterback for one sack.
