Daughter Frankie Warren scored twice, while mother Shelley Drover added another as the Rangers downed Clancy’s Pub 3-0 to take the Corner Brook Women’s Soccer League title at Wellington Street Sports Complex.
Warren opened the scoring in the 30th minute, before Drover increased the lead to two in the 45th.
Warren sealed the deal with a goal in the 90th minute.
Ashley Preston preserved the clean sheet in goal.
It was the third championship in a row for the Rangers, though this one seemed much more special. Rangers’ Sam Meaney said the team dedicated the win to Shawn Neary and his family. Mr. Neary, a member of the men’s Rangers squad for years, died last week.
Earlier in the afternoon, in the third-place game, the Shoppers West Hawks blanked Veitch Physiotherapy 4-0.
Jade Regular made sure her team would fall no lower than third with a four-goal performance.
She scored in the 35th, 37th, 50th, and 89th minutes.
Jessica Ryles recorded the shutout.
