STEPHENVILLE  The boys from the host Caribou Curling Club will have two lives when they battle for gold tonight.

The Greg Smith foursome, which also includes Ryan McNeil Lamswood, Kyle Barron and Craig Laing, advanced to the final by virtue of a perfect 5-0 record at the provincial Under-21 men’s  curling championship being staged in Stephenville.

Smith, who is a St. John’s native, and his Stephenville buddies will have to be beaten twice because they went undefeated in round-robin play in the six-team tournament.

The final goes tonight at 8 p.m. at the Caribou Curling Club.

The opponent for the final showdown will be decided shortly as Andrew Taylor (3-2) and Stephen Trickett (4-1), both out of the St. John’s Curling Club, are throwing stones today in a semifinal matchup scheduled for 2:30 p.m. with the winner going up against the host rink. The winner of the tournament will  represent Newfoundland and Labrador at the 2015 national junior men’s curling championship Jan. 24 to Feb. 1 at the Corner Brook Curling Club.

Smith edged Trickett 8-5 Monday morning in the final draw of the round-robin portion of the tournament.

Daniel Bruce of the Corner Brook Curling Club wrapped up his stone throwing with a 7-6 loss to Greg Blyde of the St. John’s Curling Club in the team’s final round-robin contest Monday morning.
